Computer Problems and Sketchbook mobile review

Sat Nov 7, 2009, 12:40 AM
I've been in a position over the last few months where all of my kit has been giving me one problem or another.
Ive lost a hard drive and I've had my Mac Book screen spontaneously die on me.

Fortunately I've been able to get my Laptop repaired at no cost as the fault seems to be a defect that some Mac computers had with their Logic Boards. But this does mean I have been for the last couple of weeks without my files and I've had to get a replacement computer to work on.

I also have been playing around with an app for the iPhone called Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile. All I can say is that it is quite a neat drawing application with may features that you'd expect to find in Photoshop. (Autodesk also has a program called sketchbook which this is based on. It allows you to draw with your fingers, with pencil, brushes or air brush. Full colour, control over pan and zoom through the multi-touch screen and a Layers System

And a great new feature that alows you to export your drawing and its layers as a PSD through email to work on your home computer.

Problems that I have found are that you can't reorder your layers, you cant crop your canvas size and sometimes you can flip through tools by accident. However it is a great app to doodle on the go. I haven't foun anything as good as this on the market and Photoshop for the iPhone will be more for photo editing instead of drawing.

Until next time.

Hey dude it's, Peter, here and I just popped by to say hi and say that I loved seing your work at the dev meet. I saw a lot of artists there but I think your art was the best. If you're having trouble remembering me I was the kid that had the pictures done on CAD like the owl and the chinese dragon head.

Hi Peter,

Of course I remember you! Thanks for dropping by and having a look at my work. Thanks also for your kind words. :) Best of luck with your art in future mate.

Thanks man that means a lot. I've started working from more realistic poses like you suggested and hopefully that will earn me some points when I go to my college interview next month so thanks for the advice.
